It is one of the most comprehensive instruments of its kind in the world, according to research from Harvard University.

The AI Index Report tracks, collates, distills, and visualizes data relating to artificial intelligence. Its mission is to provide unbiased, rigorous, and comprehensive data for policymakers, researchers, journalists, executives, and the general public to develop a deeper understanding of the complex field of AI.
UN's 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) were set to help build a better world for all. Taken into account by all stakeholders, they give an idea of the actions to undertake to fight against poverty, environmental degradation or injustice, or to ensure the health of populations and good conditions for workers. As this article published in Nature shows, AI can contribute to reaching these 17 objectives (e.g. it can be used to automatically identify oil leaks, contribute to the increase of productivity of an organization's employees or promote learning), but it can also hinder the pursuit of some of them (e.g. the production of algorithms is very energy intensive and AI can reinforce discrimination against women and minorities).
In 2017, the Government of Canada appointed CIFAR to develop and lead the Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy. It creates economic benefits through the commercialization and adoption of AI. It drives advances in knowledge and R&D. The strategy generates job creation. It attracts new talent and develops talent through education. And it improves society AI initiatives. The strategy’s impact on these domains and Canadian regions is assessed below.
This publication contributes to the OECD’s Artificial Intelligence in Work, Innovation, Productivity and Skills (AI-WIPS) programme, which provides policymakers with new evidence and analysis to keep abreast of the fast-evolving changes in AI capabilities and diffusion and their implications for the world of work. The programme aims to help ensure that adoption of AI in the world of work is effective, beneficial to all, people-centred and accepted by the population at large.
Now in its fourth year, the State of AI Report 2021 is reviewed by AI practioners in industry and research, and features invited contributions from a range of well-known and up-and-coming companies and research groups.
