Better prostate cancer diagnosis with AI and Raman microspectroscopy

A team from the Centre de recherche du CHUM (CRCHUM) and Polytechnique Montréal combined Raman microspectroscopy imaging and machine learning techniques to better detect aggressive forms of prostate cancer. This technique, which is faster and less expensive than those currently used in the laboratory, has made it possible to accurately diagnose nearly 9 out of 10 cases. Although still in its infancy, and subject to larger scale testing, this discovery looks promising for improving the accuracy of prostate cancer diagnoses.
